Projects: The Foundation of Movestax

Projects are the backbone of Movestax, serving as logical containers for all your resources. Whether you’re deploying an app, managing databases, setting up message queues, or automating workflows, everything is grouped within a project for seamless organization and control.

1. Sign Up and Log In

  1. Visit the Movestax login page.
  2. Sign up with your email or an OAuth method (Google, GitHub, etc.).
  3. Log in to access your Movestax Dashboard and get started.

2. What Are Projects in Movestax?

Projects act as centralized hubs for managing all your resources. They provide:
  • Centralized Management: Group resources like apps, databases, workflows, and analytics under a single project for easy control.
  • Internal Communication: Resources within a project communicate internally, enhancing performance and security.
  • Scalability: Projects can grow with your needs, allowing you to add apps, databases, and services as required.

3. Create Your First Project

  1. Navigate to your Dashboard.
  2. Click New Project from the dropdown menu.
  3. Fill in the project details:
    • Project Name: Choose a unique name.
    • Description and Tags (optional): Add context for easy identification.
  4. Click Create Project to finalize.

4. Add Resources to Your Project

After creating your project, start adding resources like apps, databases, workflows, and analytics tools:

Deploy an App

  1. Go to Project Dashboard > Deploy App.
  2. Select a deployment type:
    • Frontend Applications: Frameworks like Next.js, React, Vue.js, or Svelte.
    • Backend Services: Node.js, Express.js, PHP, or custom configurations.
  3. Upload your code or connect your Git repository.
  4. Configure build settings (optional).
  5. Click Deploy to launch your app.
Features include:
  • Zero-config deployments.
  • Auto-scaling and rolling updates.
  • Build and deployment logs.

Set Up a Database

  1. In Project Dashboard, click Databases > Create New Database.
  2. Select the database type: PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
  3. Configure the database:
    • PostgreSQL: Serverless instance with default user and database (postgres), default port (5432), and TLS encryption.
    • MongoDB: Fully managed instance with user-defined credentials.
  4. Click Create. Connection details will be displayed for integration.
Key management features include:
  • PostgreSQL: Table, function, trigger, and index management, along with performance monitoring.
  • MongoDB: Visual data management via the Movestax MongoDB Explorer.

Automate Workflows

  1. Navigate to Project Dashboard > Hosted Workflows.
  2. Click Create Workflow Instance.
  3. Select the database type for workflows (SQLite or PostgreSQL).
  4. Build workflows using the n8n drag-and-drop builder, and integrate actions like API calls and automation tasks.

5. Explore Additional Services

Movestax simplifies development with a range of tools:
  • Analytics Tools: Integrate tools like Metabase for data visualization and reporting.
    • Available in the Pro Plan or as an add-on.
  • Message Queues: Deploy RabbitMQ for asynchronous communication.
    • Includes AMQP and Management URLs for secure connections.
  • Team Collaboration: Add team members to your project (Pro Plan includes 2 users).

6. Manage and Monitor Your Project

Resource Management

  • View and manage all your project’s resources, including apps, databases, workflows, and analytics tools, in the Project Dashboard.
  • Add or remove resources as your project evolves.

Connection Options

For PostgreSQL, choose from:
  • Direct Connection: For long-lived connections, like virtual machines.
  • Transaction Pooler: Ideal for serverless or stateless apps.
  • REST API: Provides an HTTP-based interface for data access.

Movestax Projects are available across all plans, with varying limits on resources like apps, databases, and workflows. Additional instances and services can be purchased as add-ons. Check the pricing page for more details.
